What should be done to a car that s been sitting for a long time?
My parents bought me and my brother a 2001 ford mustang about a month ago. It has 88,000 miles on it and the previous owner (not the original owner) had been letting it sit for about 6 months I think he said. The car obviously hasn't been driven that much. I know I should obviously change the oil and all filters. I don't know too much about cars but am learning and was just wondering from any mechanics out there what all I should do to it.
Change or check oil and tranny fluid, spark plugs and wires, battery and battery terminals
As you don't know much you should take it to a shop and ask them to check it over. You're trusting the brakes work and the suspension isn't about to fall off. Once it's been sorted out you can learn oil changes etc as they become due.
- What is Ford's excuse for not reporting this alleged crime 36 years ago when a proper investigation could have been done? Even if you say that the police would have not taken it seriously back then, it would still have been on file and came up during the FBI background check.
- What parts will I need for a 2005 Ford Taurus 3.0L SFI DOHC 6cyl that has been sitting for 2 years? Right now my list includes: battery, wiper blades, air fliter, front and rear brake pads and all 4 tires? Also what mechanic services will I need? So far that lists includes: a tune-up, oil change, and an engine flush. Your help would be very appreciated.
- Truck has been sitting for like 8-10 yrs? We have a truck that has been sitting for like 8-10 yrs. And my son wants it for his first truck. I looked in the engine and there has been mice making nest in it. It has tons of rocks and trash in it. But i don't see any wires chewed. It's a Ford Ranger Splash 94 with only 55,000 miles on it. Do you think it would be worth it to tow it to get running again?
- I have to get a car running that has been sitting for 17 years? I have to get a 79 Ford Mustang with a in-line 4 running so it can be moved out of a parking garage that it has been parked in. Obviously it will need some fresh gas, any ford enthusiast have any tips to offer?
