Why is everybody against American cars?

After reading a few articles on cars it seems like 95% of America (not including me) absoltely hates American cars. I've heard lots of people saying all american cars are made in mexico. This is FAR from the truth. There are many American cars still built right here in the good ol' Usa. Example: my impala was built in detroit with mostly American made parts. My dads f150 was built in Michigan with mostly American made parts as well. So don't give me that bull**** trying to convince me that american brand cars are not American. We have owned several American cars over the past 20 years and NONE of them ever given us any problems at all. I know a friend with a dodge dakota that has 345000 miles on it with the original egine and transmission. Also, just because your Japanese Honda was built in ohio does not mean it is an american car. Even if somebody buys a canadian assembled chevy, ford, or dodge as least their money is going towards our economy and not Japan's.

Is anybody else with me here?

American cars are built to American regulations, which are not as stringent as European and Japanese regs, so there are lots of safety features missing from American cars, and the fuel economy is noticeably worse than European or Japanses cars.

Japanese cars are known to last a long time.

Quality sucks and the designs are not much better, either.

Remember a few years ago when Ford's Motto was: "Quality is job 1". Why are they not saying it any more? Look up "Ford Triton engines failures" on the web.
