What motor oil do I buy for my vehicle?

I have a ford f-150 year 2000 with a v8 engine and 5.4L

Last time the oil only lasted for about 1300 miles before it ran out.

The only time engines run out of oil is if they use the oil or leaks it! I would say either 5w30 or 10w30 will work fine for your truck! But if it, s leaking oil or burning it then it won, t matter what kind of oil you use! Get the oil leak fixed forst and then change the oil and filter!

You say the engine eats oil?
Or, leaks oil?
Fix the engine

i just friggin said that.

Some oils having poor volatility ratings will be consumed by an engine even if it does not have ring seal or valve seal issues or leaks.

Try Amsoil Signature Series oil and their oil filter. Available via a Dealer/Distributor network.

I would check leaks the next time you put oil on
let it run for 3 hours you should find a leak

There are serious issues with this motor. Why 16 year old US boys must have trucks to go to school is beyond my ability to be logical. This has nothing to do with the type of motor oil. This has all to do with a worn or damaged engine. Find a mechanic. I'm sure you are going to try whatever cheap options you can find but they will not work. I can assure you of that.

Um, the oil shouldn't run out. Only reason the engine loses oil is if it is burning it up or there's a leak. Both of which means you need to get some engine work done.

"Ran out" Then it would not matter what kind of oil you are using. Oil does not run out or dissipate. You either have a major leak or your engine is burning oil excessively. Have it inspected immediately.

Is there any blue smoke coming from your exhaust?
