What kind of oil does a 1997 ford f-150 XLT take? - 1
5W30
Yup, 5W-30, full synthetic, would be ideal.
5W-30 was the original recommendation, but Ford backspecced 5W-20 as the recommended oil. Either will work, but I've stuck with 5W-30 for my 1997 F-150 4.6L.
Motorcraft 10w30. On the shelf of any parts store, Ford dealer, or Wal-Mart.
Well the 4.0 4.6 and 5.4 motors take 5w30 oil now if the truck has 100,000 or more miles use a heavier oil recommend 10w30 to keep things sealed up. And if its the v8 7 quarts of oil with the filter.
- What oil grade does a 2005 Ford Transit TDCi 135 T350 take? Can't see any clear answer online for what oil grade this transit takes… Some people say 10w/40 and some say 5w/30! Just needs to know how much the sumps and and what exact oil it has! Plus if it needs to be semi or fully symthetic!
- What kind of Synthetic Oil does Ford use? GM recommends Dexos in all newer GM s. Does Ford have a specialty oil that they recommend/prefer? Especially something that won't void a warranty
- How much does it cost to replace motor rear main seal on 1997 ford explorer xlt? The undercarriage is covered with oil concentrated mostly in front but does cover all way to back underneath. Trying to decide if it's worth cost to fix or scrap/trade possible and buy new car instead. No other problems with vehicle. I understand price will most likely be more at garage due to fact of the oil mess.
