Should I fix my truck or sell it and buy something else?

I'm a 17 year old male and I have and old Ford F150. I really like this truck. I prefer older vehicles. The body is really rusty and the frame is weak. It needs some mechanical parts too. The gas gauge just broke too. I know a lot about this truck. I've wanted one since I was a little kid. Should I try to fix mine up? Should I sell it and try to find another one in better shape?

It would require an expert to inspect your vehicle to answer your question with any sort of response of significance.

Tough call if i were you i would try to What can be done to it mechanic wise. Or compare prices with the truck you are looking at.

A definite case of good money after bad - a vehicle that old is potentially unsafe and the drive must be quite poor. Don't put yourself and other road users at risk just for nostalgia.

I would calculate the cost of repairs and then look at some trucks in better condition. See what people would offer you if you were to sell the truck. Subtract the cost of the truck you would buy by the cost of how much your truck would sell. Choose the option with the smaller number. And if the frame is weak. I would definitely buy a new truck for my own saftey

If it's got structural rust, scrap it for parts and buy something that's at least not rusty.

If you want a similar F150, and yours has a good engine, then salvage the good spare parts off yours, and find a better one, even if it needs mechanical work. Engines can be swapped and rebuilt for sensible amounts of money. But once you start on a rusty body / frame you are going into a bottomless pit and can spend 10X what the vehicle is worth to get it right.

Sell it. The money you would put into it you could find a decent truck. Besides with the frame damage you might not pass a state inspection

If the structural integrity is in doubt, scrap it and find something in better shape.
