I have a ford f150 5.4 2005 and engine went out. Cost to repair idea? Photos are included?

So i was told by a mechanic that my 2nd pistion broke and i needed a whole engine swap. I pulled the engine out and found just what you see broken. No other metals were found down in the oil pan. I think there's maybe a piece of rod in the piston area. Any idea what it may cost to repair? If it helps i live in central california Ok so i have a ford f150 5.4 2005 and engine went out. I paid $4500 for a rebuilt engine about 2 years ago in Florida.

Man you have the very worst year for a ford truck i was die hard ford guy if it makes you feel better i bought 7 of them All OF THEM WERE JUNK i would get a crate motor do not try and rebuild it THEN SELL IT As soon as possible BECAUSE OF THIS SAME REASON I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND FORD JUNK TO ANY ONE I'm SORRY BUT ITS JUST COMMON FORD JUNK YOUR DEALING WITH HERE and one of the worst years is yours i'm still stuck with 2 out of 7 and those 2 are nothing but issues i won't even let my employees drive them and i can't out of good conscious sell them to a unsuspecting person there just garbage crate motor then sell it and run the hell away fast as you can it will only bleed you to death financially

Looks like you dropped a valve into the cylinder. It may have broken the piston and it may have broken the head. Before I gave up here I would pull the head off and take a look. I doubt if you have 'a piece of rod in the piston area'.
Likely that is where the valve is, but it is unknown how much damage it did. If you are very lucky you may not need much more than to replace that valve. Most likely you will need to replace the valve and the piston, maybe the head. In the worst, you would need a new block. You then might consider a replacement engine.
