Need tips - buying a PICKUP TRUCK - car?
Hi
what is the main differnece between pickup trucks like ford 150, dodge ram givs compared to sedan or SUV in that range.
other than towing capacity.in what other way they coudl be compared to regualr SUVs or 4 door sedan. Will i get the same milesage and driving comfort level with pickup trucks.
basically, what are the pros and cons of a pickup trup compared to SUV or 4 door lengthy sedans.
i'm thinking of a switch from my 4 door sedan to a pickup truck. Should i go for ford 150 or dodge ram. My budget is less than 15000 for a used one.in that price range,
what can i expect that i should consider as a better deal.
If you're looking for good gas mileage and comfort in the price range you have mentioned, DO NOT buy a truck of ANY kind. Your average small 4-door sedan like a Toyota Corolla or a Honda Civic will get almost DOUBLE the gas mileage of any pickup truck, AND be easier to drive in traffic as well.

There are some pickups that are very comfortable, and sort of car-like in how they ride. If I were going to get a pickup, I'd be looking at Honda Ridgelines. They have something like a trunk, are very comfortable, and get mileage in the low 20s.
As the other responder aid, a sedan is going to get much better mileage. A Honda Accord 4 cylinder, will probably get in the low 30s. I have an older 6 cylinder Accord coupe, and I get 30 pretty much all the time. If I do a really long trip I can get 33. And I drive fast.
It's all a matter of what you need. Obviously, if you are going to tow something, get a truck. But if you are looking to OCCASIONALLY haul stuff, I'd get a car, and borrow a truck when you need one.
Pickup trucks and large SUVs will not get the same fuel economy as a passenger car. Modern pickup trucks and SUVs are as luxurious and comfortable as most passenger cars.
Mileage is going to be worse regardless of engine size due to the weight of the truck ( about 7,000 pounds ) The ride will be smoother with regular driving since the wheels and tires of a truck are much larger they can pass bumps much more easily with much being felt. So pros of a truck: Less chance being stuck in a flooded road, higher chance of surviving a car crash since weight MAY be on your side, curbs can be jumped without any damage, large items may be placed in the bed that couldn't be achieved in another type of vehicle without a trailer, higher towing capacities due to weight, smoother drives since tires can glide over bumps. Cons of a truck: Typically a higher fuel consumption and more $ at the pump, can't navigate close corners as easily, higher roll-over chances, very heavy to push if it breaks down in the middle of the road. All in all I'd choose a truck over a car any day of the week.

- For a restoration, what major parts of a car do I need to look into pricing and buying? I have a Ford 1967 Fastback Mustang with literally nothing "mechanical". - I need a little advice in buying a new car? I have a great steady job and I can afford to buy a car from the dealership. It is the first time I ever go to a dealership for a car. I'm just wondering if there's any good reliable brands you can recommend to look out for? How is Ford, in your opinion? Also, what are the next steps one takes after buying a new car? Tags, plates, and insurance right?
