How to get a direct payment claim?
Alright so I got in an accident where this lady hit me on my front passenger door or my f150 and it was her fault so now her insurance company (AAA) is going to pay for my damages which is an entire new door. We brought it to a ford dealership to just get an estimate but the collision center there told us that the insurance company will just pay them directly. The damages are going to be around 3k but here's the thing I don't want them to pay the shop directly, I want to know how to have them give me the money so I can also spend it on modifications to my truck (lift, rims, tires, etc) and just get a new door from a junk yard for way less than the dealership would charge me. So how do I make them give me the money from the estimate without paying the shop directly?
P.S. I know that it's wrong to do this but really I should get the money I deserve for this accident and I should choose how I spend it weather it's on the door or not
IF, this is the at fault insurance company, then, yes, you can ask them to make the check payable to you, vs the shop.
You can take that check, cash it, take a used part, or whatever you choose, and it is legal.
Even, if you choose not to fix and cash it and take a vacation, it is your choice, since they should not care if you drive a damaged vehicle or not.
They owe for your damages, so if the body shop says it will cost $3,000 to fix, then ask that they make the check payable only to you.
Just tell the insurance co that you want the check made out to you. Do not settle with them until you get a check in your name.
Since it is the other guy's insurance that is paying, you can request the insurance company pay you directly. They will only pay the Ford body shop directly *IF* you have them make the repairs. If you want to pocket the money simply tell the insurance company you are not going to have repairs made and to make out the check to you. You do not need to fix the truck if you don't want to.
