How much should a brake job cost for a 2006 Ford F150 pickup? I'm not in the mood to get ripped off?

If I can get a ball park figure, it would be helpful.

I've come across outfits that give a written, no obligation estimate which includes everything down to the labor and applicable taxes. Take this written estimate to another outfit and ask if they can beat it, ie. Maybe the second opinion says that something isn't needed so it might be less.

It really depends on what you need but basic pads and rotors installed on the front only should be about $400. +tax

You can't turn the rotors on this truck, they are pressed on and must be cut off with a grinder

If the rotors are turnable (meaning they are thick enough) then for fronts your looking between $300 and $400 on average for a shop to do them. For rears they are normally about $50-$100 less at most shops.

As for the rotors (Dave C) these ones are turnable, if yours are the ones where the rotor and hub are the same then you will have to remove the bearings to remove the rotor to turn it. If they are the slide off design then its easier and little cheaper cus you don't have to pay for new bearing seals.

If you have the 2 wd model then your rotors should be apart of the hubs, if yours is 4wd then your rotors are normally slip off.

Hope this helps.
if you go to your local les schwab they can get you a quote and everything for free.

Call or drop by different shops and get estimates.

Labor rates and parts costs vary from area to area. What you could do is call around to some local shops and get some quotes on the job. Keep in mind that just because someone is the cheapest does not mean they will do the best work. Ask some of your friends who they might suggest. Just a ball park figure, and again, the rates will vary greatly sometimes within just a few miles, I would say an average of $250.00. Will probably be more if you need the rotors turned or replaced.
