How can I disable the emissions dash light on my truck?

I have a 1988 Ford F150 XLT Lariat. The engine was replaced with a 1995 351 Windsor and it has shorty headers off of a Mustang. I'm pretty sure the emissions light is on becasue it doesn't have O2 sensors. Anyway, because it's an '88 here where I live it's exempt from emissions testing so I'm not running cats or 02 sensors. The headers that are on it are from a late 60's early 70's Mustang so they don't even have O2 sensor ports. Is there any way to disable this light for inspection purposes? They just do a safety check but if they see a light on the dash they'll fail it. Is there a fuse or something I can take out? Any help would be great thanks!

Look under the dash between the headlight switch and the steering column. Should be a black rectangular module maybe 1X2 or a bit bigger. Should be able to unplug it and the light will go out.

Either go to the DMV with your tale and get a waiver or reach in under the dash and remove the light bulb. If the light is used for other points in your emissions monitoring, then the later idea would put you in violation. So maybe you should seek a waiver.

Cool

You can disable it but you will not fool the testing station because they check the electrical works of the vehicle so would know that light is disconnected. So you are screwed there.
. But you are exempt from emissions so they will not inspect it. For that. So use black electrical tape and place it over the light on the dash. Cheap.
