95 f150 4.56 gears good for race truck?
Hi have a 1995 ford f150 with a 302 and a auto O/D trans 8.8 rear 2wd long bed. I'm going to be running this truck in some local Smash up type Enduro races (Beechridge in Maine 1/3-mile, semi-banked asphalt track). Now my question is what would be the best cheap rear gear set for this truck to really make it take off without losing power i'm thinking 4.10's or 4.56's i don't need any top end obviously and it currently has 3.31 gears.
I'd check E-Bay for used 4.10's. Tha t should be plenty of gear.
That being said, it would be a good idea the run an external 3/16" line to the rear of the tailhousing to prevent burning up the rear bushing. Check for this mod at http://www.clickclickracing.com/
