2001 Mercury Sable LS Cruise Control

My cruise control do sent work and I don't know where to start testing. Did a cruise control repair on a ford f150 by running a cruise test but I don't know how to run the test on a mercury. When I press the cruise on button NOTHING happens. I also noticed if I turn the key to on without starting the car to test the warning lights the cruise light doesn't turn on. It can't be the brake switch either since brake lights all work. I'm not sure if I should start by testing the cruise buttons on the steering wheel first with a multimeter or what.

I can't seem to find a fuse related to the cruise control system either unless mercury has another term for it.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

This requires thought and knowledge of the system. You start at making sure the light works, then go and check to see if the switch is working, then check the clockspring behind the steering wheel for damage or breaks… You have to keep hunting it down until you find the problem.

  • Will 17 rims with (225, 60r17) fit my 2000 Mercury Sable/Ford Taurus? I obtained a full set of factory rims from a different vehicle, and they DO have the same bolt pattern as my Sable. I'm currently riding on 215 60r16, but want to upgrade to these, if possible. Any ideas, folks?

I have a 1994 ford ranger with a 4.0 automatic transmission i have a problem with the cruise control when i drive at 60 i set the cruise it set it abut 10 min all of sudden the cruise shuts off for no reason when i turn on the cruise it won't set i don't know what's happening with it never done this before and know it's happening now please help
