What cars do college students usually drive?
I was thinking of buying a 1999 Ford Explorer XLT for my first car. It will be 2016 when I go to college. I feel like my car would be too old and people will judge me. How old are the cars college students usually have?
In my campus, the most common car is the Volkswagen Golf, from mk1 to current. The most badass car that I've seen is a modified VW Golf Mk1 and a modded Mitsubishi Lancer. The rich kids can be seen in Range Rovers and BMW Sedans. People normally buy imports here so I haven't seen any Fords at my campus.
I went to a private university driving a 20 year old hand me down Mercury. My grandfather was afraid everyone would make fun of me in that old tank. When I got to Abilene, all my friends said things like "You have a car? Cool. Can you take me to Wal Mart?"
One girl on campus had an old Triumph Spitfire about as old as my Grand Marquis, and another student had an early 80s Nissan that was in even worse shape than my Mercury even though it was newer.
Cheap ones.
Hey as long as you have something to drive you to school and back haha. Explorers are pretty nice trucks but they waste a lot of gas quick you should start off with a small car so you wouldn't be spending 80$ for a full tank, hope this helped & I'm driving a 1998 bmw 328i it's not the nices car but it's better then nothing
- 1997 Ford Ranger 4.0 V6 won't shift into drive after being driven. Takes longer than should to shift into drive when first started? It will go in reverse fine. First thing in the morning when I leave for work, it will shift into drive on it's own, but takes a bit longer than it should. After getting it warm, won't shift into drive at all. I can shift down to 1st or 2nd, then back into drive and it will "pop up" into drive within a second or 2. I also have a ODB2 error P1744 (Torque Converter circuit).

- Should the revised 2016 Ford Explorer ditch front-wheel drive for rear-wheel drive? Which midsize, non-luxury SUV uses RWD these days? Dodge Durango, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Toyota 4Runner, a used Chevrolet TrailBlazer or GMC Envoy. Not to mention the Nissan Xterra.
