Should i change my transmission fluid?

I have a 98 ford explorer. It just stopped moving. I was gonna change the transmission fluid but in the mean time i tried to drive it. I got it to move maybe a mile and it quit. Would a fluid and filter change take care of it

Yes.

Check trans fluid level and get a fludi change! It may be toolate as the DRUM SEALS hmay have blown from old bad fluid! TOUGH LUCK!

Nope. Something let go internally. Changing it won't help. Find local shop at ATRA.COM for more help

Nope, more than likely too late.

  • Transmission fluid change or flush or both (1997 Ford Taurus GL)? I just got a 1997 Ford Taurus GL with over 133000 miles. The car is in pretty good shape but when I shift gears it shifts kind of hard. I have no idea if the trans has ever been serviced but my guess is that it need to be. Would you recommend just draining the pan, changing the filter and gasket and replenishing the fluid or should I do a flush? Not a power flush. Just using an extension hose to drain the old fluid and add new fluid. Or do you recommend both? If so, in what order?

  • Does cheap transmission fluid matter? I gotta do a transmission flush In my 98 Ford Mustang. I'm trying to be as frugal as I can and found transmission fluid at Autozone for $1.99 but employers there said it's cheap fluid. Does cheap transmission fluid make a difference? Or should I just go with the big guns at $5.99+?
