My ford explorer 2015 xlt 60k miles I notice doesn't go above 81mph when I reach 80mph and I stuck in 80mph and below.

You stuck in 80MPH? Have a mechanic look at it, maybe the ECU needs to be remapped.

New account as of today, no other question, probably spambot.

Governor

Clean the MAF sensor. Check for any codes.

So what's the problem? There are no roads where you can legally drive that fast.

"MyKey" is activated. See pages 69-72 of your owner's manual or the source. If you are the owner, and not the owner's young son, you can get it deactivated.

If it is a 6 cylinder that might be all it is capable of.

What are the motor's rpm's at 80 mph? Perhaps the overdrive isn't working. I'd go to a dealer and have them test drive the vehicle with their factory scan tool hooked up to monitor the gears as they shift and to make sure you are getting 4th gear and over drive.

FlagMichael is right. This is the only explanation under varying conditions that the max speed would be 80. MyKey is electronically limiting your speed.

Reflash the governor sir. Stage 1 flash, but DO NOT go beyond unless your components can handle the torque.

The key you are using is setting the limit. It is called MyKey.

Use the information display and follow these steps:

1.Switch the ignition on using an admin key or fob.
2.Access the main menu on the information display controls and select Settings, then MyKey by pressing OK or the > button.
3.Use the arrow buttons to get to a feature.
4.Press OK or > to make a selection.
