Installing new radio in 1996 Ford with premium sound system?

I'm trying to install a new radio in a 1996 ford explorer with a premium sound system (with two wire harnesses behind radio. One for power and one to the amp/speakers). The amp/speaker harness has 16 wires. I'm only finding stuff online for 8 wire ones. I'm able to get the new radio to power on but no sound gets to the speakers. I have the harnesses and a speaker level converter box to compensate for the amp.

Make sure the dark blue wire in pin #1 of the 8-pin gray plug is connected to the blue/white wire coming from your head unit. If your head unit doesn't have blue/white, use solid blue.

  • What sound system should I add to my 2003 Ford Mustang 2 door, 6 cylinder, 3.8L? I don't know much about cars and audio systems but I was looking to add a good audio system to my car. I basically want the car sound to be a lot louder, but sill be clear. I also want a stronger bass. Basically I want the car to be able to shake if I want it to. I looked into the Mach 1000 audio system but not sure if that s good or what to get with it if you even do that. Like I said, I'm not a car literate person.

  • 2001 Ford KA sound system upgrade? I've just bought a ford KA and want to get a sound upgrade for it, although I know nothing about cars. I don't want to get a subwoofer but I don't know what my other options are. I've been looking at stereos but will this actually improve the sound or is it just there to look cool?
