You can purchase an OBD II diagnostic tool which will turn the check engine light off, but if the problem is not fixed, it will come right back on. You will have to repair the malfunction to pass state inspection. Just no way around it. First, make sure your gas cap is on tightly. That will also cause the CEL to come on.

The only way your going to get it to stay off is to find what is wrong and fix it. There's now other way. Once you take it in they will hook up and see the code and fail the inspection.

Well you really should get the engine checked but if you can't for what ever reason then maybe you could google how to turn it off and you'll find it.
