What's causes car to jerk and the check engine light to go on and off?
My car was working fine yesterday! It's a 2005 ford explore. I went to turn it on earlier and it started jerking a lot! I let if warm up a bit than the check engine light came on than it went off and on again. It keeps turning on and off! I know I need to change my spark plugs soon! Can it been the spark plugs causing it to jerk and the light to turn on and off?
Yes. Bad coils do that too. Read the code. It will point to the exact cylinder.
Low oil in the crankcase(engine) could also be the problem plus very low idle speed.
- Why does my car jerk when accelerating or when I turn? I have a 1999 Ford Taurus SE. I just got an oil change. The next thing was to change the spark plugs and wires.
- What causes problems starting a car and the engine to misfire going over 60 mph? This problem started about two months ago. I have a 2006 Ford Taurus. So far no mechanic can figure out the problem. They have replaced all of the spark plugs (numerous times because they keep going bad), an engine coil, the crankshaft position sensor, the battery, did a tune-up, ran a $100 diagnostic test and still the problem occurs. Anyone have any idea what could be the problem? I forgot that they also did a coolant flush.
- Difference between SERVICE ENGINE SOON and CHECK ENGINE light? Is there any difference? I have a Ford Mustang 2002 and my SERVICE ENGINE SOON light is on. Does it mean something is wrong with my car? Do Mustangs also have a CHECK ENGINE light?
- 2014 Ford Fusion gas cap causes check engine light. What do i do? I have a 2014 Ford Fusion Energi, brand new. Today my 'Close Fuel Door' notification kept popping up even though it was closed. I opened and closed it a few times. Shortly after my check engine light came on. I'm almost positive it has something to do with that as it is a brand new car that is well maintained. So my question is, what can/should I do?
