How can I tell if I need struts on my 2001 ford explorer?
Any decent suspension shop can put them on a shockie tester. When front struts are shot, the vehicle will normally bounce up and down instead of stopping affecting braking, steering and wheel alignments. You can get them re- gassed but sometimes I wonder if it's worth the trouble. You should get 100,000klms out of a set of shocks under normal conditions. Some people never change them, probably because it's not cheap.
Ford Explorer. Please capitalize correctly the brand and the model names of cars. Required by the rules of English grammar. Shock absorbers, a vital part of the suspension system, last between 50,000 to 60,000 miles. No questions asked. This is a rule that works rather well. Modern shocks tend to be stiffer and more stable than past models. There's no way to test them. They could leak and that is noticeable. They can break off. They can be damaged. Otherwise, that is the rule.
- What is most harder to find a 1995-2001 Ford Explorer or a 1993 to 1997 Ford Ranger? I need to know which vehicle is more easier to find nowadays and 1993 to 97 Ford Ranger or I 95 to 2001 Ford Explorer.
- How can I tell if I need a REAR wheel alignment? I have a front-wheel drive Ford Fusion. Obviously you can tell if you need a front-wheel alignment by seeing if the car drifts straight or not, or if your steering wheel tilts, or by uneven tread wear. But how do I tell if I need a REAR-wheel alignment? (Yes I capitalize "rear" because so many people answer this question without paying attention)
- How to know if your struts are bad? I have a 2009 ford focus I had to change the front struts a few years back because i was ran into a side of a curb really hard. Anyway My car as been making a shaking noise for he past few months, i thought it was because he had to be realigned but I think there could be a bigger problem. Also there as been no excessive bouncing, noise dives, or leaking… What else could this be?
- Do I need new struts for my Ford Focus? I think its just the bearing (s) as my ride is unchanged and the car has the same bounce when I push and release the front end down. Of course, I'm not a mechanic and don't think i'm capable of replacing struts… Just looking for a fix that isn't $800 I have a subtle click and my tires in the front have worn rough I meant the bearings in the strut. Everything else seems solid
