How to connect 2002 Ford Explorer factory radio wires to new radio?

I took out my radio. I purchased a ford stereo connect but it doesn't fit to the factory wires which are now unconnected to the factory radio. Is there a way I can connect them directly to the new radio? I'm new to replacing radios.

If you can't find the info on your Explorer's wiring diagram. Get yourself a test light, and look at all your wires, there should be 8 which are paired into 4 groups for your 4 speakers, it's easy to work out which by test connecting to your new unit (which will have it's wiring information) then with the test light (connected to metal body) the positive will be there all the time, no matter where the key is, the ignition feed obviously be off when your ignition is off, and then connect to the positive and touch to find an earth, when you finding that turn the headlights on (if it switches off then that is the dimming circuit, not often used on modern head units these days) once you find your proper earth (or you can just go to the body of the car (some head units default that way), to find the power antenna feed, just touch the positive to the remaining wires and see which one lifts the antenna. You can solder and heatshrink your connections, or get some crimp fittings (both ways require some tools you can probably borrow or buy not too expensively) but please don't use scotch locks they are of the devil and will cause endless troubles in the future.

Hopefully that helps, feel free ask more if you need

If your adapter doesn't fit the factory plug, buy the correct one. Don't cut off the factory plug, and don't try to wire it without an adapter.
