1996 Ford Explorer not moving?
Why won't my 1996 or my 1995 Ford Explorer move in 2 wheel drive, but will in low range?
Your vehicle actually has two gearboxes linked together with a transfer case. One set of gears is used in normal driving (high range) and the other set is for low range. So it sounds to me that there's something wrong either the transfer case or the high range gearbox.
The high range gearbox is the transfercase which is also the low range gearbox. The other gearbox is the transmission.
4 wheel drive is better anyways
- What causes the steering wheel to shake when I'm not even moving? After replacing the steering rack in a 1999 Ford windstar, the steering wheel shakes violently when the vehicle is started. The steering wheel is uncontrollable and the vehicle can't be driven. The steering wheel actually moves lock to lock by itself. I've never seen anything like this.
- 1995 Ford Taurus with a steering issue. When I turn the steering wheel to a certain spot left or right it will start moving back and forth? According to previous owner the rack and pinion was previously replaced. Steering wheel Is off a little to the right. Any ideas?
- I parked my 2017 Ford Mustang in my apartment parking garage on the 4th floor for 2 days with out moving it When I left it there I had more than half a tank of gasoline. When I returned to drive the car the gas tank was empty and the car would not start. There was no gas in there at all. Is there a mechanical answer for this?
- My 1996 Ford Explorer will not start. SOMETIMES? There's no telling when my explorer wants to start. Usually once a week it just will not start, it will crank and crank but just won't start. I don't understand it. Then sometimes 10 minutes later sometimes 4 hours later it will start right up. It is driving me nuts and i don't want to pay a shop to fix the problem if it's simple.
