Define better. The Expedition is larger and rear wheel drive and costs more. The newer Explorers are front wheel drive and get better mileage. It depends on what you need from your vehicle.

Depends on the years. In 2018 both are kind of weak and car like. Before 2003 to 2010 ford explorers were truck based and pretty tough with the 4.6 liter v8. The 90s models had to short a wheel base for much towing. So I'd say depends on use. 2003 to 2010 being the toughest with the 4.6 liter. Also the expeditions from 2010 to 2016 were pretty tough as well.
Depends on your budget, needs, and what year. If going used make sure to bring it to a mechanic for inspection beforehand.
