My 98 ford expedition stuck in 4 wheel drive what do i do?

Buy a Chevy or a Dodge… LOL! I don't know much about the FORDS because… Well, as my first comment inclines. I do know that there's a switch on the front axle that operates the automatic hubs which more likely than not is your problem. While that switch doesn't take a Harvard Degree to change, it does require a specialized tool. If you don't have the $$$$$ resources right now to fix it just pull the front drive shaft. Whatever you do… DON'T RUN THAT VEHICLE ON PAVEMENT IN 4X4! You think you have $$$$$$$$$$$ problems now, running it in 4 wheel drive on hard pavement will empty your wallet and bank account!

If it has autolocking hubs (the ones you don't turn with hand to engage) try backing up 20 or 30 feet in a safe area. Might take more than once. If it stays stuck or happens frequently, it needs testing and repair.
