Heat in a 2001 Ford Expedition?
My heat quit working after I put in a new thermostat I need help please
Park vehicle with front much higher than rear. A set of jack stands would suffice. Remove radiator cap and run engine to operating temperature. You will notice vehicle burps air out of cooling system and is actually low on coolant. Did you mix coolant 50/50 with water? Straight coolant could also be a cause!
is the hot water control valve functioning? Is the air mix door functioning?
Check the coolant level. Maybe air pockets. Run the heater on high to cycle through then check the coolant level when cool.
Dunno
If the heater is on but not blowing warm air, it's most likely the coolant. Make sure it's at the max line, and run for heater for 5-10 minutes. The heat will kick in. Worked for my 2003 Expy last month.
Not trying to be a SA but are you certain you put the thermostat in correctly? They have to go in the arched part in the up position with the larger section down into the engine block. Has happened many times in the past… Just sayin'.
You need to run the motor for 20 minutes with the radiator or reservoir pressure cap removed. The climate control needs to be on the hottest setting with the blower fan off or on low. Set the air flow to the center vents. The air pocket should move and purge from the system. I've had to rev the motor up and down to 2,500 rpm and squeeze the upper radiator hose to get a stubborn air pocket to move. Once the air bubbles stop and the antifreeze level is good check to see if the center vents are putting out warm air at idle. If the air is cold but gets warm when the motor is revved you still have air to get out. Watch the temperature gauge while doing this. If it starts to go too hot shut the motor off and wait a few minutes before running it again. That helps purge the air and keeps you from overheating the motor.
First, make sure it's full. With the engine cold, top-off both the radiator & the expansion tank. Drive it a day or two, then re-fill just the expansion tank - DON'T even open the radiator. Do that until the expansion tank stays full.
- 2001 Ford Taurus No Heat? I have a 2001 Ford Taurus SE with no heat? The tempature gauge in this car fluctuates between the middle and cold. It never stays in the middle like it should, it's always in-between the middle and cold. It will blow out very medium heat when I rev the engine up but it's not that hot, It usually stops doing this when I just let the car idle. I did have just the heater core flushed about three months ago. Can someone please tell me what could be wrong.
- I have a 2000 dodge caravan and the rear heat works great but the front heat blows cold? The blower motors all work fine, has new water pump and brand new coolant. The top vents in the dash blow lukewarm warm but if you switch it to defrost it comes out ice cold but the rear heat still blows super hot air. Coolant level is full. I've read about the blend door could that be the issue? Could a coolant line to the front dash be clogged? I'm a ford mechanic but kinda stumped and have never worked on a dodge.
- Hunting: They totaled my 2010 Ford Expedition. Should I get a new expedition or an Escalade? The insurance told the collision center that it is not worth it. I really like my rental 2019 Escalade that I have been using. Should I buy a new Escalade or a new expedition? We have enough for a 2019. Not getting used. We will get about $10,000 for the expedition. I'm just glad nobody was hurt.
- Gas gauge doesn't work in a 2001 Ford Expedition. Would it be the fuel pump sender and pressure sender? I'm hoping it could be something else that could cause the gas gauge not to work. I meant to say pressure sensor
