What's wrong with my truck's AC?

I have 2000 Ford expedition and when I turn the truck on, the dashboard vents start blowing air. The panel won't respond therfore I have to disconnect the ac control panel. I have a feeling it could be the control panel, but if I get it's going to cost me about $600.

I wouldn't suspect the control panel. It could simply be the fan switch. Reconnect the control panel and unplug the heater fan on the firewall. It should only have the one plug-in connection. See if the blowing stops then.
If you need the control panel, go to a salvage yard and save 90%.

Now on to your problem. It is potentially one of two things. The blower motor relay is stuck in the closed position or like American Patriot said, the blower motor switch is bad. Locate your blower motor relay and switch it around with a known good relay of the same type. If the blower responds when you turn the switch, then you know you had a bad relay. If not, then move on to diagnosing the switch like American Patriot said.

Hi so what do you expect from a 15 year old truck.

  • Wrong sparkplug put in truck? I have a 93 ford ranger, for some reason thought it was a 97. Put sparkplugs in for a 97, not sure if that's bad or if the sparkplugs for the two years are pretty much the same. Been driving it around fine, just don't wanna do damage to it.
  • What's wrong with the truck? I went for a ride with my grandfather yesterday. He told me to drive on the way back. I've driven this truck a lot so I know how it feels and drives. The first thing I noticed was that the steering was loose and shaky feeling (wheel moves with bumps). It's usually tight and very responsive. I also noticed the brake pedal felt kind of squishy instead of firm. What's wrong with this truck? It's a 2000 Ford Ranger 4WD.
