- Ford ranger gear shifter problem? I recently shifter into park in my 2000 Ford ranger 3.0 v6 and I heard something break so now the shifter will shift gears without stepping on the brake. Everything still works fine but I can just pull down on the shifter and it will shift instead of stepping on the brake and then shifting.
