What can I do with a ford escort?

I'm trying to decide what kind of car I want to have and build as a rally able/ track able car. I currently own a Subaru wrx and it's a great car but their so common and I also want something unique. I was thinking and I thought one possibility would be a ford escort. Everyone knows the famous escort tuned by cossworth. Obviously this car is super rare and parts for it that car specifically would be not readily available or cheap. However the idea is that chassis with an awd platform with a turbo charged 4cylander. I've heard of some Mazda that has awd possibly able to swap into an escort. Anyways, thoughts on this car with that setup or any other cool setups that are unique. Don't say it wouldn't be worth it and you might as well buy 6 wrx's because that's what it would take. I don't really care I want a unique build

Dagenham dustbins Ford Escorts are known as. Had one in the 70s, ended up scrapping it.

Escort, and Ford have come a long way since their early days. The year does matter, greatly, as the model and the company matured over the years. A more recent version would be preferred to an earlier model. Gets decent mileage, fuel economy, and recently benefits from the 10+ year Mazda - Ford cooperative relationship. They are stable mechanically, and generally a decent purchase to get started tinkering with.

I have one of those, and it works real well as a anchor for my boat.
