Scrap value of 98 ford escort?

Looking to get a newer car and this needs to go. Not in the greatest condition so private sale is likely to be a low offer. The car works as it should do but has severe corrosion, and several faults developed such as part of the rear bumper having cracked off, multichanger no longer working and a leaking boot, which is causing mold in the boot. It has just under 3 months tax and mot. Id get about £40 from reclaiming the tax.

Part exchange offer was £100. Scrap yards will only match the price. Seems a little low as i got £250 for my skoda octavia just 2 years ago. That was a 1.9tdi estate with a seized engine.

Do these scrap values seem low? If i scrap, then i can also reclaim the tax which will boost that price upto £140.

option 2. Sell on ebay. I already have an ebay account and a quick look at ebay shows a listing fee of £10 and a final value fee of 1%(minimum £20), so a total amount payable of £30 in fees. To get a better price on ebay, Id have to get at least £170.

Option 3. Stick an ad in the window. Might be time consuming to get a buyer given the condition.

Most likely are either ebay or scrap. Any ideas if i should be pushing for a higher scrap value?

Only option bar weighing it in is stick an ad on Gumtree for a couple of hundred quid, but you'll soon wish you'd just taken it to the scrapyard once the f**kwits who buy cars at that end of the price spectrum have worn you down with their idiocy.

The value of scrap goes up and down by the week in most places, have you tried one of the online sites like http://www.cartakeback.com/

Got £80 for our 97 escort cabriolet late last year

Not sure about the UK, but in the US scrap value is about $50/ton. Privately, the car would be able to be sold for at least 10x that.

I give you £1 for the escort and take it off your hands now, you can keep road fund licence… Thats how generous i'm.

At most scrap value is 250 to 300 your better of puttin it on craigs list or somthin
