Can you jump a low pressure switch when there's no r134a in the system?

I just got a 1998 Ford Escort zx2 and I'm having some A/C troubles with it. The compressor will not come on. I tried jumping the low pressure switch to see if the compressor would kick on so I could add some r134a but nothing happened. I was wondering if the system has no r134a in it, will that stop me from being able to jump the low pressure switch? Also I should add this, I know these cars are notorious for the CCRM failing. When I was messing with the AC, I tapped on the CCRM and the compressor kicked on and off and on and off for about 5 minutes. I went inside to get r134a and went back outside to add it after thinking I fixed the AC, and the compressor was no longer working. So that tells me that the system is definitely low on r134a. But also, since I tapped on the CCRM I'm thinking it might be the cause to all of this. I'm in no hurry to spend $80+ on a new CCRM and I'm not comfortable taking it apart and soldering a new relay in. So would the low pressure switch not be "jumpable" if there's no freon in the system?

Put the 134a in the system even if the compressor not running. It might come on once there's more 134a in the system.

  • Power Steering Pressure Switch? I have a 2001 Ford Taurus 24v 3.0l DOHC. I currently have a power steering leak & found out that the power steering pump & pressure switch needed to be replaced. I bought both parts & managed to install the pump with no problems. However, I can't figure out where the power steering pressure switch goes. Does anyone know? I've checked the internet along with youtube & can't find anything that can help me. Your answers are appreciated.
  • Differential pressure switch causing check engine light? 1997 Ford Taurus. I don't remember the exact code but it said something was wrong with the upstream differential pressure sensor. The car doesn't run any differently. How do I fix it?

  • Can you jump a truck with two batteries? Can you still jump a truck with two batteries with a gas-powered car? I have a 05 ford f-250 super duty diesel that has 2 batteries to start the engine and heat up the glow plugs. The truck was able to start just fine a couple days ago but now it won't even start because of maybe drawing too much amperage or whatever… so can anyone tell me the step-by-step process of how to jump my truck with a gasoline car if possible?
