Could be a shift cable or a shift interlock solenoid. Most likely you will have to get it towed to a mechanic for them to fix.
First thing to check is to see if the brake lights are working if not correct and try again. If that isn't the problem then try using a screwdriver and pushing the shift interlock bypass switch it mat take a few tries to get it. If this works then the shift interlock solenoid has failed. You can keep bypassing it with the screwdriver indefinitely
- 99 Ford ranger XLT base model. Park lights, dash lights, and license plates lights out I checked online and realized it was probably a fuse which it is. Fuse 11 in my power distribution box. The problem is I keep replacing at and soon as I turn on my lights it blows instantly. Have replaced it multiple times. So then I looked under my truck and disconnected the wiring to my taillights and replaced the fuse, it worked it didn't blow. Dash lights and license plates lights were on so I figured some where there's a problem with the brake lights. Any suggestions?
- My gear shifter won't come out of park, my a/c, windshield wipers, and windows will not work? I have a 2001 ford focus zx3. I took it to a mechanic and he can't see me until Tuesday. He did look under the hood and said it wasn't anything simple. I've heard many things like battery cables, my computer or a fuse. What's wrong with my car and how much is it going to be to fix it?
- 2005 VW Golf 1.6 or 2005 Ford Fiesta Zetec S 1.6 2005? First car for a 17 year old who has just passed his licence. Both cost similar amounts for purchase and for insurance.
