1999 Ford Escort ZX 2 lost only key to ignition?

I lost the only key to my car. I can remove the ignition switch without key. I will call lock Smith tomorrow but I'm 30 miles from the closest one. I was wondering what options I had or the corre t way to drill out my ignition cylinder so I can replace it with a New one.

You don't need to replace the ignition switch. You need to have the vehicle towed to the dealer and take the title with you to prove you own the car. They can cut new keys by cross referencing the VIN to a code that automatically cuts the new keys to your ignition switch. They need the car so they can program the keys to the switch. This is why you always want to have a spare key. Tow bills can be saved that way.
