Is it better to get a car with low miles but low mpg (Ford Explorer) or a car with higher miles but better mpg? (Ford Escape)?

Is it better to get a car with low miles but low mpg (Ford Explorer) or a car with higher miles but better mpg? (Ford Escape)?

Buy what you can afford to maintain and operate.

The automobile that is mechanically sound, fits your budget, and provides the options you desire in a motor vehicle.

Get the Explorer, the Escape is not that great of a vehicle.

Get the vehicle that suits your needs. If I wanted a ford Ranger I would not be happy with a Mack even though they are both trucks.

Sorry I don't know much about this

Whichever one is more mechanically sound is your best bet. Test drive each one and see which drives better.

Depends on what high miles means, it depends on what you need, I prefer the escape for parking and such, both good and it depends on the engines? MPG is often in the driver even in the same car
if money is a big deal, you need to go for the better cost for time you will use it,

most of all you should be paying cash not finance any car

Depends on your needs and budget.

If it really doesn't matter to you which car you get (cargo, etc.), and assuming that both cars are equally mechanically sound, I would go with the one with the better miles per gallon.

  • Does my MPG seem low or normal in my Ford Ranger? I own a 2005 Ford Ranger XLT 4.0 V6 4x4 Okay, yes I know it is a truck so I do not expect fantastic fuel mileage, but I was calculating my MPG with this app I have on my phone, and the average is anywhere between 13.2 and 13.6. The truck is a manual, so to help with the MPG, I usually shift around 2500-3000, and when I'm just driving I usually have it between 1500 and 2000. Does anything seem wrong here or is it normal?

  • Looking at trading my 2011 Ford with 80k miles in with an engine knock for a newer jeep Patriot with low miles, Roll 3k negative equity? Ford Fusion has developed and Engine Knock and another mechanical issue. Thinking about getting it repaired or trading it in for a newer Jeep Patriot with low mileage. I would have to roll $3000 of negative equity over to new loan. Any thoughts?
