I have a 2003 Ford Escape with 235/701R-16 tires on it. Can I use 215/60R-16 snow tires for the winter?

The tires will physically fit on the rims but they are much shorter than the original size ( which means your speedometer will read higher than actual speed ).

The load index ( the weight the tires are designed to safely carry ) will very likely be too low as well which means you could overload the tires and cause a blowout.

Yes, you COULD, but I wouldn't recommend them. The 215/60 tires would be both shorter and wider than your standard tires… And BOTH dimensions are a poor choice for winter tires.

It will ride rougher & that is a drop of two sizes, so I wouldn't…

  • Will it matter if i use 215/75r15 on my ford ranger? The sticker in the door calls for 265/75r15 and all the specs I can find says 215/7515 is the tire to use is the 215 alright to use?
  • Do they make low profile SNOW tires? I live in Northern NY but my dream car is a Ford Mustang Cobra R. I want to get just a normal mustang and make it a Cobra R replica, but it'll be my daily driver. So do they make snow tires in low profile? And don't tell me to get a different vehicle just because of where I live. I'm set on this car and am just looking for an answer to the question asked. Don't act like my mother.
  • Will a set of 235/60-R17 tires fit a vehicle with 225/50-R17 tires currently? If they do I'm assuming there would be a MPH difference on the speedometer. Update: The 60 series set is from a 2014 Ford Focus and are stud-less winter tires. They are to go on a 2012 Ford Fusion.
  • Which winter tires will fit my car? I currently have p185/65r14 summer tires on my car, do i just buy any tire with these dimensions or do i need a specific one with bolts that will fit my car (2001 Ford Focus)? And if anyone is selling them let me know.
