Advice about what is needed for a car when moving from Florida to Michigan for winter. Details inside?
I'm moving from Florida to the Detroit area next week and driving my 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid (Front Wheel Drive Only) there. I've NEVER lived in a place where it snows so am wondering what type of things I will need for my car during harsh winter months in Michigan?
Any advice will be helpful.
I drive a fwd sedan. Most people just drive slowly during the winter, but you could purchase "snow" tires (which are tires that are made of softer rubber that gives you better traction). You should really take time when it snows to practice driving in it. You will eventually learn what your car is capable of in the snow and adapt your driving habits. I always try to drive extra careful and usually I'm more worried about other people's driving. You will be fine!
Snow tires and an ice scraper. Other than driving more carefully, nothing else is needed. But if you drive away from the big city, a bag of sand might come in handy. You won't need chains unless you plan on leaving the roadway. Have a current list of towing companies to call if you need to b e pulled out of trouble.
- Why is Ford Motor Company so racist they are canceling building a new factory in Mexico and chose to instead expand their plant in Michigan? By 700 jobs instead? What do these racists have against Mexicans? Is Ford Motor so racist they don't have any choice at all in the matter, they have to vote conservative? https://www.usatoday.com/...o6zLrdOeTk Cenj Uygur the Snarkster coming at you racist cons!
- Why does Michigan have such a heavy automotive influence? I know I may sound kind of stupid asking this but it's been bugging me for awhile. GM, Ford, and Chrysler all have their headquarters in Michigan and mainly produce and manufacture cars their so I d just like to know why.
- Used sport car and good for the winter for under 15k? I like ford Mustang and Camaro cars but its RWD and not good for the snow, so is there any other options?
- My question is about storing a car outside in the winter for a few months? I live in northern Minnesota but I always go south for the winter for about 3 or 4 months. I've got a 2001 Ford Mustang V6 with a hundred and thirty-five thousand miles. I'm planning on leaving it in a friend's backyard for the winter. Is there any precautions I can take in order for the vehicle to not be dead upon my return. I heard turning it on and letting it run once a week will help?
