2001 Ford Escape runs bad?

I have a 2001 Ford Escape. It cuts out if I push the gas pedal more then a half inch, but if I ease it down it runs smooth. I have replaced the plugs, some vac lines, the PCV, TPS, AIC and checked the gas for water. Before all this I took it to Ford, and was told it had water in the gas and needed plugs. Ford wanted $1000 to fix it. Plugs took me less than 1/2 hour and the gas is clean. Does anyone on here have any ideas what might be the problem?

  • Is a 2001 Ford Taurus a bad car? I'm buying one soon, it has 160000 miles on it. That's a lot of miles. I know everybody complains about ford saying they're no good cars and you always see them on the side of the road. How long will this car last me and are they bad?
  • Bad fuel pump or bad Mass Airflow sensor? My truck us having very hard time starting up. It cranks over, putters and shakes really bad then dies. Once it finally becomes drivable, it almost stalls when accelerating from a stop or turning right Could this be a bad fuel pump, bad MAF, or another failing part? Truck is a 2006 ford ranger
  • Is a 2000/2001 ford explorer with 250,000 miles on it bad? Looking at a ford explorer honestly know absolutely nothing about it other than it has at least 250,000 miles on it supposedly highway and interior is a bit messed up. I haven't seen it yet but my boyfriend agreed that we wanted it already. We have kids and wanna make sure we will actually get some use out of it and it is worth paying $1000
