What SUV is reliable for moving out of state? What SUV is good on Gas?

Ok so I'm moving from Texas to California. I Don't want to fly take a bus or do anything but drive. I Don't need comments telling me not to move there cause I won't listen. I need to know what SUV you think or have knowledge of that is reliable for driving that far of a distance. I'm looking into getting a kia Sorrento but I was told Chevy's are good someone else said Don't get ford so i don't know I'm buying the car soon so I would like to know as soon as possible.

Get a Lexus if you can afford it. If not, an Acura MDX would be good.

Any small SUV is sufficient for what you are attempting. Your main concern would be making sure the vehicle is compliant with California emissions.

Driving errands and short distances do much more damage to a vehicle than cruising down the highway for a day or two.

As long as it has good brakes, bearings, tranny, and doesn't burn oil, any SUV should be fine.

Make sure it is California emissions compliant. No custom exhaust, no fancy engine mods, etc.

Depends on how big you need. Since you mention fuel economy, I'm guessing you don't need a lot of space. I'd absolutely recommend a Ford Escape or Honda CR-V, both will get about 26-30mpg hwy with 2WD base engine depending on which year you go with, and the older (2005-2008) Escapes were offered with a hybrid version that gets you something like 35mpg, but that's city driving(hybrids always get the best in the city).

The Rav-4 is another option, but I'm not sure if it offers the same mpg as the CR-V or Escape. If you're talking about brand new SUVs, the Mazda CX-3 and CX-5 and Nissan Juke get pretty awesome hwy fuel economy, but probably because they're nothing more than tall compact cars, not exactly SUVs.

Hi so what is wrong with a truck as long as it is new and not a 7 years old one.

Nissan Pathfinder. With its pathfinding days behind it, the Pathfinder eschews the go-anywhere capability of its past and now joins the three-row crossover crowd. The big Nissan is a flexible family hauler and interstate cruiser that favors comfort, quiet, and fuel economy over dynamics and spirited performance. The Pathfinder's 5,000-pound tow rating should satisfy most needs. Whether for cruising the urban landscape or getting through tough terrain, the Pathfinder presents a unique blend of style and reliability that brings the competition to its knees, especially when it's enhanced with stylish accessories and parts. The thing with SUVs and trucks is that you can always tow a trailer if necessary. Gas mileage is going to suck unless you get a small SUV like a Honda CRV or Hyundai Tucson. My midsized suv/truck of choice if cost is not a consideration if I were to get one would be a Toyota 4runner. It isn't the most powerful option out there and fuel economy is unimpressive, but it is probably the most reliable SUV out there that is designed for hauling, towing, and offroading first rather than carrying people.
