Was the 352 Ford engine any good?

Added (1). Well, good news so far. Thanks Gentlemen. I'm buying a 1967 Ford 250 4WD. It has the 352 motor in it. It sounds really good. Doesn't smoke a bit when started. Told it doesn't burn any oil. Has a 4-speed but really low gearing. 55mph is about tops on the road. It's my first truck. So I'm excited about it.

Added (2). I found out today how good this motor sounds with a decent exhaust system. I found a set of headers out of Craigslist yesterday. Today Midas put them on for me and a pair of glass pack header mufflers and dumped the exhaust just behind the cab, both sides. Wow. I'm really happy!

Yeah

Its an monster engine the best ford ever had fo sure

Popular in grain trucks. Lots of them around farm country. Very good reputation.

It was a reliable engine, and it was used in a variety of applications, 1967 was the last year for it and by that time it was pretty outdated. It was replaced by the 360/390, both of which were better in every way.

352/360/390 were the same basic engine called a FE, made from 1958 to 1976. The were also the the same basic block as the 427 and 428 Cobra Jet. They were the big block of the '60's. A very tough engine.

They ran in in NASCAR for a couple of years with some fancy heads.
