Throwout bearing or heat shield?
I have a 2006 Ford F250 super duty kingcab 6.0 with 6 speed manual transmission. It just started making a clattering sound when i let off the gas in 1, 2, 3 gear but not in 4, OD or in Neutral with or without clutch engaged. Could this be throw out bearing or heat shield?
Well, as the heat shield on the catalytic converter is considerably easier to get at then the clutch, climb under the truck, give it a thump & see.
Thanks just looked and forgot i don't have catalytic converter so got to be throw out bearing
The throwout bearing will make noise only when the clutch pedal is depressed. Letting of the gas and hearing it would indicate a multitude of possibilities. A common cause is slack or play in the driveline due to faulty U joints. Check for play up and down and side to side in your driveline at both U joints.
- New wheel bearing and still noise? I have a 1997 2wd 2.3 liter Ford Ranger and the front passenger side wheel was making loud noise and the wheel was pulling that way and I replaced the wheel bearing and a couple days later the same side is making that noise again and and pulling that way again. It has 4 brand new tires on it and the wheels aligned.
- 1991 Ford Ranger heat shield? My heat shield was removed for other repairs and left off by mechanic. Can someone explain to me, as if I were a child, where it goes and how to put it back on?
- How much roughly is it for a new release bearing on a car? I have a 2008 ford ka Everytime I press on the clutch there's a rattling noise I have googled its the release bearing How much roughly would this cost? Also why did this happen? I'm in the UK
- I have a 2000 dodge caravan and the rear heat works great but the front heat blows cold? The blower motors all work fine, has new water pump and brand new coolant. The top vents in the dash blow lukewarm warm but if you switch it to defrost it comes out ice cold but the rear heat still blows super hot air. Coolant level is full. I've read about the blend door could that be the issue? Could a coolant line to the front dash be clogged? I'm a ford mechanic but kinda stumped and have never worked on a dodge.
