Check the pedal linkage & pushrod adjustment where it goes in to the master cylinder or servo.
There should be some form of adjustment somewhere on it.
From what you describe, the master cylinder is not being allowed to retract fully, as if the link from the pedal is too long.
When the piston in the cylinder is at it's proper rest position it opens vents from the brake lines back to the fluid reservoir, so pressure can't build up. Those should close as soon as the pedal starts to move, so the brakes work normally.
With the rest position adjusted wrong one way or another, either the vents don't open or there's too much "dead" pedal travel before the brake operation starts.
That's usually either a sticking piston in the master cylinder, a master cylinder too full of brake fluid, or a bad proportioning valve.
- Paddle shifters in Ford mustang v6 automatic 2017? So, I just got this car and I'm not sure if its a good thing or bad to use paddle shifters. Will I get the instant pickup like manual transmission by putting car in Sport mode and putting the gear in D and doing gear shifts.
- I have a 1990 Ford Mustang gt the dashlights quit working and the taillights now do not work? What do I need to do to fix this, or has anyone else had this problem? I checked the fuses and it is not that.
- 2015 Mustang GT paddle shifters? I own a 2015 Mustang GT automatic since its sports + mode actually shifts better than a manual driver would, but I realized that when on Drive and I activate the paddle shifters they don't stay on manual mode very long like 5 seconds only, what could be the cause? Is paddle shifting only possible on Sports mode or sports + and track mode? Its an insanely fast car on the Sports + and sports, is that why its duration is not long enough?
- I have squealihg rear brake drums on a Ford Focus. I've replaced shoes and drums and still squeals. Has? Anyone heard of silencer pads for the backing plates? There's a Ford TSB #15-10-5 on it, but my Ford dealer can't find the part # for them. It seems that you glue some sort of material to your backing plates to stop the noise, The dealer told me to get all new Ford shoes for $116.00. Any other tricks that my work?
