Diesel Truck Problems 7.3 97 f350?
Just discovered oil mixed with antifreeze in Ford F350 7.3 Diesel truck (1996). Truck ran for less than 5 minutes.
Changed the oil cooler and a gasket pinched/broke mixing the oil and antifreeze and vice versa. Drained the oil and anti freeze for a few days. Bought new gaskets oil and anti freeze. Changed the gaskets, no leak, put in oil and put water in the anti freeze to flush it out (suppose to let it run for 30 mins) well about 5 minutes in the truck turned off and won't start again. Charged the battery and the truck tries to turn over but hasn't.
Let it sit for a while and it turned back on. Now flushing the radiator.
Sounds like there's still water in the high pressure oil pump for the injectors. Might be in the rail or even in the injectors. Any of witch will not let the truck run. Had something like that when i put to much marvel in and thinned out the oil to much. Truck just died and would not restart. Dealer said they flushed out the oil system. I'm not sure how they do it.
Oil and water turn into foam that won't flow.
That can allow oil pressure to zero out.
What did the oil pressure gauge say?
Is the engine now tight?
If so, then you need to do the bearings.
You can drop the pan and try doing just the rod bearings.
Likely it will then be ok.
You don't have to remove the heads to do rod bearings.
