1999 Ford F-350 super duty unleaded gas engine?

I'm trying to get my box truck up and going to move. It has been sitting for about 2 years since the last time we moved. When it was parked it got left with a little bit of gas in it and when we went to fire it up we had went to the gas station and got some new gas to put in it which we did. Went to go crank it and get it going and it sounds like it wants to start but can't. Took a little starter fluid to it and it wil start for a second and Then dies. Have replaced the fuel pump, fuel pressure regulater, the batterie is new I just don't know where else to turn or try any suggestions

Sounds like a problem I had with 93 ford explorer. Check relays, fuses and make sure you have power to pump. If you have power to pump but you pull fuel filter off and no gas is pumping check ground. My car had a bald ground so we spliced in a 10g wore and ran to frame and it has run strong since.

After sitting for that long, the old gas in the lines or fuel system is probably gummy and varnishy and clogging injectors or fuel system parts… Old stale fuel won't support proper combustion… Even when mixed with a little new gas and can clog system parts or injectors.

I'd drain or flush out the old/new gas mixture in the tank and lines and put in a few gallons of fresh premium fuel, change the fuel filter and try adding an extra double dose of Seafoam or Techron to the fuel tank… Say 2-3 ounces of product per gallon… Purge any air in the fuel system by turning ignition on for a few seconds, then off… Repeat a few times before trying to start… Then try starting again using carb spray or starter fluid into the TB throat or a PCV/vacuum port if needed… Try to keep the engine running with carb spray until the fuel system cleaner has a chance to work and clean injectors. Or run some injector cleaner through the injectors/fuel rail if possible. Some injector cleaning kits allow you to hook up a can of pressurized injector cleaner to the fuel test port on the fuel rail and run the engine off of that… Turn off pump /remove fuse while cleaning. May need to remove injectors and have them professionally cleaned/tested.

You may also need to test if the injectors are firing properly with a Noid light… Sold at parts stores. If injectors are not firing while cranking, it could be a variety of issues and cause a no start… Bad cam or crank sensor, PCM issues, bad relay, blown fuses or fusible links, etc.

I'm assuming the fuel pressure was checked/good and fuel pump turns on properly… If not check for blown fuse, bad relay, inertia safety shutoff switch is tripped, PCM issues, bad wiring or ground wire connection, etc…

  • Will newer model (03-07) Ford Super Duty headlights fit on a 2000 Super Duty? I was wanting to put Oracle headlights on my truck, but it's for the 03-07 6.0L Super Duty's. It's the only kind I can find that close enough to my trucks lights. But I was wondering if the headlights will fit right into my 2000 F-250 Super Duty.
  • Will a front seat from an earlier Ford truck fit in a 2003 F-350 super duty if I change the seat tracks? I know the seat tracks for the front seat in the F-series trucks changed between 1997 and 2003, but I'm having a hard time finding an exact replacement for the 2003 model. Will a bench seat from another year or model of Ford vehicle fit the F350 if the seat tracks are changed? That would make it a lot easier to find something.
  • Ford Super Duty diesel engine? Which is the best engine for diesel engine for a ford truck. People are telling me the best one is the 7.3 because it has the less problem but someone else to me is the 6.0. Please give me an idea on which is the best selection because I'm ready to purchase a used truck in a couple of months. I know these a 6.0, 6.2, 6.7 and a 7.3. I know they stop make the 7.3 in 2003, I can still find them.
  • 2018 Ford super duty 350 lariat or 2018 Ram 3500 Laramie? I like both and have always been a Ram guy. The Ram is cheaper but is the out going model year. I'm a big fan of the Cummins and the new sport packages ram offers I like. I like the ford interior and space. The digital dash is cool. Price is more, powerstroke gets worse fuel economy.
