Car won't go forward or back words?
2005 ford torous auto was driving on freeway and started to rev but slow down no warning sign that tranny was going bad and shifter slides right between all the gears
You say "no warning sign that tranny was going bad" so do we assume that your car has not been leaking transmission fluid?
If not, and the fluid level is where it should be on the transmission fluid dipstick, and still has a "fluid" feel to it] then the clutch bands that grip various gears may have worn to the extent that now they don't have the force to grip down tightly enough to engage the automatic gears.
Usually, though, you would notice an increasingly protracted gear change in the weeks prior to it happening, in which case there should have been warning signs, I would have thought.
Fluid looks fine i was litarly driving and the revs went up and i slowed down no clunk no sound no warning nothing
Ford Taurus and the transmission is gone a common problem with Taurus. Find local shop at ATRA.COM for more help. It will be in the 2300 dollar range to rebuild it
- Why is it mocking Ford to repeat/paraphrase her words? She does not know any details. How is it mocking her to point that out? Where were you? "I don't know". When? "I don't know"… If those word are so offensive, why were they used? Why is it so offensive to point to her own testimony?
- Steering wheel becoming stiff even when driving forward, why? My 2005 ford freestyle steering wheel was making noise the power steering fluid was leaking had the pump changed, but now a squeling noise is coming from the front and the steering wheel is becomin stiff when turning… What can this be?
- How to put the wiring harness back on a 93 ford ranger for the tail lights after I put the bed back on? How do I put the wiring harness back on a 93 ford ranger for the tail lights after I put the bed back on?
- What causes a car to jump in reverse when all forward gears are fine? I once owned a 1967 Ford Mustang (sure wish I still had it!) with a 289 ci w/2 bbl and factory 3 speed on the floor. I bought it used with 100k miles. It acted fine in forward gears but when I put it in reverse, It "jumped" as long as I was moving. I changed out the clutch and pressure plate twice but it didn't help. Could it have been that the fly wheel needed balancing (by grinding) or something else?
