Steering wheel becoming stiff even when driving forward, why?
My 2005 ford freestyle steering wheel was making noise the power steering fluid was leaking had the pump changed, but now a squeling noise is coming from the front and the steering wheel is becomin stiff when turning… What can this be?
Perhaps the air was not fully purged after the pump was changed. Take it back to the mechanic.
Loose belt
Have you checked the belt for tightness? There should be no play in it at all. When was the pump changed? The pump is self purging by turning the steering wheel all the way to the left and right half a dozen times.
- Why does my car shut off with too much pressure on the steering wheel? I have a 1990 Ford Tempo. I replaced the ignition to starter cable on it, as it would randomly shut off when taking a hard right due to corrosion on it. However, it still randomly shuts off when too much pressure is applied to the steering wheel. I was suspecting that maybe it is the ignition switch, but I don't have the money to go to a mechanic at the moment. Has anyone else had this problem? And how was it fixed?
- Why do a lot of Class A gas RV's have a steering wheel that says Ford on them? I know a lot of Class C RV's are on a Ford Chassis, but why do a lot of Class A (flat nose) gas RV's have a steering wheel that says "Ford" on it like the one in the photo?
- What causes the steering wheel to shake when I'm not even moving? After replacing the steering rack in a 1999 Ford windstar, the steering wheel shakes violently when the vehicle is started. The steering wheel is uncontrollable and the vehicle can't be driven. The steering wheel actually moves lock to lock by itself. I've never seen anything like this.
- 1995 Ford Taurus with a steering issue. When I turn the steering wheel to a certain spot left or right it will start moving back and forth? According to previous owner the rack and pinion was previously replaced. Steering wheel Is off a little to the right. Any ideas?
