Buying a vehicle in the military soon after boot camp?
I'm joining the Army as a wheel mechanic and I leave for basic this Monday, or March 7th. Once I'm done with boot camp (9 weeks) and tech school (12 weeks) I'm considering spending some money on a nice truck or some sort of other vehicle, most likely A 2014+ ford.
A lot of people advise not to buy a nice expensive vehicle because it's a waste, but I'm young, 20, and I really wouldn't mind. I also got a 25k bonus with the job I choose, 5k after tech school before taxes, and then the rest annually which will be distributed throughout my 4 year contract annually.
How should I approached this? Should I put a down-payment and pay monthly? Get a loan from a bank? Or purchase something? I will obviously look into something with my financial means. Thank you
Added (1). I kinda reiterated my self a bit saying annually alot

Thank you Yes buying a vehicle like that is not the smartest idea. Your whole pay is going to be going to loan payments, insurance and gas for the truck. For you a male under 20 your insurance rates will be high. Do you even have credit to get a loan for that vehicle? You want to have your payments less than 1/3 of your pay.
You need to wait until you have your orders because you could be sent to Korea or Germany for all you know. When you get to the post you see (or even during AIT) if the Family Service Center offers a class on buying a vehicle, you also get someone to go with you when buying it who KNOWS about buying cars. Best time to go is the end of the month, in the evening when they are trying to meet their quotas. You have a price and stick to it, make sure it includes tax, titles and tags for the vehicle.
You buy a car (4 doors if better) or a used truck that has decent mileage and low payments to build your credit and make sure you have money in the bank. Your Enlistment bonus should mainly be going into savings for later No buy a cheap car reliable car Forget the vehicle until after you have finished your commitment. That would be a major error. As a squadron commander the most common problem I had to deal with were related to the E-2 to E-4 enlisted troops and the vehicles they had purchased. Save your money and when you make E-5 pay cash.

- What does cash/trade mean when buying a vehicle? I'm looking at buying my first vehicle from ford. When I go on the website for Airdrie Ford in albera, I found the truck I like. It gives me how much it will cost a month. Then it says. Cash/trade=$2599. What does this mean, Is that the down payment. I'm not sure of it. And would really appreciate some help
- Things to know before buying a new or used vehicle? It's my first major choice. Please help and yes I'm going anonymous because I don't want to be judged. Do I pay exactly what the sticker says? Am I supposed to ask questions? What should I know and what is the best choice if you please? Ford's seem like durable vehicles that are easy to work on or I don't know just help please?!
- I'm buying a used vehicle today, Does it need to be inspected again? I'm buying a 1999 Ford Taurus today from a Private owner. The owner has had the vehicle inspected months earlier, and the car passed and is currently running fine. Does the car need to be reinspected once I buy the car to get my own tags on it?
- In the state of Ohio can I fundraise for me to do a camp? I wrestle and I want to do some wrestling camps/ clinics over the summer, the only problem is I can't afford them. Is it legal to do a fundraiser in Ohio for me to fundraise money so I can go to camp?
