Will i be able to afford this spartment?

This job i just got is full time which is 40 hours at $13.50 i think not sure if its for my job when i officially start or just my training for next week. I find out my salary next week. I work part time retail 20-25 hours for $11.20 an hour and if its 25 hours i get $220 each check. The apartment I want is a 1 bedroom at $1,500 a month. Would I be able to afford it with my new job?

No. The apartment is half of your 60 hour wage, and working the hours you do, you won't be in it except to sleep. Your solution is to get married and let her contribute what she can. And share the bedroom. That is the way the system is designed.

Figure out how much 1/3rd of your income is.

That is how much most people can comfortably afford and how much you should be spending each month at most.

No you can't afford that. Your income should always be 3x the rent and most landlords will require that to qualify. Some areas require 4x the rent.

Take your gross monthly income & divide by 3. That is the most rent you can afford.

To qualify for a $1500 a month apartment, you need to make at least $1,100 a week.

Nope obviously.
In two years maybe
Simple 8th grade math shows u WHY

Are you doing both jobs? With just the new full time job, your income is about 2400/month. You can't afford more than 800 rent. Some landlords may allow $1000/month rent.

to rent for $1500/month you need to be earning about 4500/month gross. Some landlords may approve 3500-3750 income.

even if working both jobs, your rent shouldn't be more than $1200/month

Not yet. You'll need income total around $4500 a month.

Not a chance

  • Do you think I can afford this car? I'm thinking about buying a 2011 Ford Focus that has low miles for $7,500. I work about 35 hours per week for $10/hour, but I'm about to have two jobs soon. I really need a car to get back and forth. I have a 700 credit score and $1,000 to put down on it. The only problem is that I only worked 20 weeks this week and 15 last week because I needed to take time off for my dying grandfather. If they see those pay stubs, they might reject me.
  • How can some people afford such expensive cars? There's a family that live a couple houses down and they have a brand new ford explorer and chevy tahoe. I mean these things cost over $35k. Are they rich or just showing off?
