How can some people afford such expensive cars?

There's a family that live a couple houses down and they have a brand new ford explorer and chevy tahoe. I mean these things cost over $35k. Are they rich or just showing off?

Or deeply in debt.

Good credit rating can allow them to get a lower interest rate and lower payments.

A brand new Ford and Chevy at the same house? I call BS

Probably they are on hock why waste so much money on a car buy a house? Its only a car lots of my friends now in their 50's are struggling paying rent if they didn't drive brand new cars for the last 25 years they own their home and not be still paying rent.

Not everybody is in the same financial situation as you and your family, even in the same neighborhood. Some families are poorer; some are richer.

You can't assume to know how the family affords two brand new vehicles. Maybe they won a small lottery; maybe they got a big bonus at work; maybe they sold a second house; maybe they have good credit and borrowed the money; or maybe they stole them.

You sure ask this question a lot. FACE IT, there are people who have more income than you.

35m is rich?

I smell a troll.

Um - try most decently equipped Explorers and Tahoes are well over 45k new and easily hit 60k.

Maybe rich
Maybe in debt up to their eyebrows
Either case ain't none of your business

  • Why would people buy older foreign cars instead of brand new American cars? I see it all the time, people driving 7-8 year old Mercedes or BMWs that they paid probably paid around $20,000. They could of easily gone out and bought a brand new Ford or Dodge, but they didn't. They bought a Mercedes with over 100k miles. All worn and torn on the inside. But aslong as they're shining on the outside I guess.
  • Why are some Ford cars (like the Taurus and Focus) such unreliable cars? I'm looking at cars in the $3000 - $4500 range and I'm noticing a decent amount of Ford Taurus's and Focus's and out of all the cars that I see, these are two cars that just seem so unreliable. I test drove a Focus last year and it sounded like something was wrong with the engine.
  • Do you think I can afford this car? I'm thinking about buying a 2011 Ford Focus that has low miles for $7,500. I work about 35 hours per week for $10/hour, but I'm about to have two jobs soon. I really need a car to get back and forth. I have a 700 credit score and $1,000 to put down on it. The only problem is that I only worked 20 weeks this week and 15 last week because I needed to take time off for my dying grandfather. If they see those pay stubs, they might reject me.
  • How did new cars get so expensive in such a short amount of time? The rise in cost for a brand new car doesn't match inflation. Its way higher. I have a 2011 ford f150. I bought it brand new for $32k with taxes. I priced out a nearly identical 2019 version (obviously trucks have changed in 8 years but I matched it as close as possible) and came out to $48k. A Honda civic can cost over $30k. What the hells going on?!
