1994 Ford Aerostar Xl won't start?
I own a 1994 ford aerostar xl and while driving the engine shut off. It has lots of gas but it seems like there's no spark. It just all of the sudden happened while i was driving now won't start. Battery is good. Does anyone know the solution on how to fix it?
Added (1). also what type of ignition system is in this van? Is there a fuseable link on the ignition system? If so, where is it? Where are all the main fuses and is there a wiring diagram that tells me what each fuse is for? Is it possible that the coil has stopped working? Will this effect my ignition? If so, where is the coil?
I believe this has the 3.0L. The distr. Is in the back.
The floor has a carpeted cover. In the center, below the ashtray.
The clips unfold and then unhook. Removing this cover should give you a glimpse of where the cap is. It is 20 years old, and I bet you have never done anything to it as far as maintenance.
I believe it has a TFI module. They have been put out in the fresh airstream away from the engine's heat and vibration. It may be near the air cleaner box. If i'm right, it has an aluminum finned heat sink that it is screwed down to.
It's possible, the stator in the distributor failed. It's also poss. The plug wires, cap and rotor are at fault.
It is so difficult to access, I suggest seeking help from Ford garage. They have specially selected slaves who love this kind of abuse.
There's an inertia switch to verify that it's not deployed, you can reset it. For the fuel.
and with removal of the nearest plug wire you can access, It can be arced to a ground source to verify spark. The coil should be away from the engine vibration too, you can trace if you want, away from the distr. To see what side, then go look out front by removing part after part till you see it. Any one of these parts can be causing it and I don't know your service records. Call AAA and ask Ford to help now.
If it has a coil pack, when you look for the distr., it will have an insert plug. Thats a cam sensor. These kind have an EDIS module out front, there was a bulletin about the EDIS connector. Most of them I ever saw were ok. This all means in this case that there has to be a crankshaft sensor. A very necessary set of tests to run when there has been no spark VERIFIED. But still, you should get it diaged at Ford and save your back, knees, and wallet. Get real parts and get back to driving it sooner. Thanks for reading.
They usually put a pwr. Dist. Box for fuses and relays on the dr. Side under the hood. The upper half of it has a drawing to help i.d.
an eec relay could be used but my bet is on crank sensor if it's the newer system. Service codes can be run with a scan tool to indicate a pinpoint test.
Check for faulty crankshaft sensor
- Why did my car start and die when put into gear? Now it won't start at all? It's a cold winter day (below zero) Car started right up! I let it run for about 2 minutes, I put it in gear and it just died. I figured it's cold out, not real surprising, but when I tried to start it again, it won't start! Turns over fine but engie won't start! Any ideas? 2003 Ford Taurus 3.0L
- Car won't start even with jump start? I have a Ford Escort 2001. I checked the battery at Auto Zone, told me it was fine and had charge. The alternator is also good. The starter is also fine. When I turn the key there's no clicks. The lights on the dashboard stay on. Does anyone know what it could be? I've also checked the cables and connections.
- 2003 Ford F-250 Powerstroke won't Crank, won't start? When I turn the key, I get a rapid clicking noise, and the indicator lights on the dash flicker. Glow plugs also sound like their barely getting enough juice. No crank at all. I hooked up my 100w solar panel with a automatic12/24 volt charge controller, which said batteries had a good charge. Went ahead and charged them fully, followed by cleaning the post, and battery connections of corrosion. Result was the same, won't start. Any ideas what could be wrong?
- Car won't start, radio turns on automatically when I try to start the car? I have a 2004 Ford Freestar and I attempted to wire it for pulling a trailer. Well, I messed something up because now when I try to start the car it clicks like a dead battery. If that's all that happened I would just assume the battery was dead but the radio turns on too and the lights on the dash go a little buggy… so I removed all the wires I installed but the problem still persists. Any help would be great!
