1989 ford econoline e-350 I can start the van by jumping solenoid but not by the ignition switch?

I replaced the ignition starter switch with no luck what could be the problem, also my solenoid and starter was tested as being good.

Bad start relay, bad park/neutral switch, bad ignition fuse, bad wires. Swap the relay and maybe you can get lucky. Try to start in Neutral. Otherwise you need a test light/multimeter and a wiring diagram and start checking for power and ground.

The ignition key has to be in and turned to RUN for you to jump the solenoid? OR not?

So the relay and starter is good because you can jumper the relay and it cranks. How about pulling up a diagram of the starting system and check from the relay back. That's what I would do. I'm sure a Hanes and Chilton manual has a starting system schematic.

Hi time to scrap such an old ford.

Then either the range switch/neutral safety switch is bad or the wiring has an open circuit.

It will be nice if you guys add the dis assembling pics from dealer blueprint… Thanks
