1998 ford ranger 2.5: is this a non-interference engine? - 1

The timing belt broke on the 2.5 engine. Is this a non-interference engine? Where should the cam lobes be when the diamonds are aligned?

Wow, your fingers (or brain) must be broken if you can't figure out how to look up this extremely basic information, or to just call the dealership.

There are actually very VERY few interference engines, & none that I know of in an American car.

  • What tools do I need to change my brake pads? Explain in plain English to a non-mechanic. Send pictures even? Alright before I get into this, let me explain that I'm a 17 year old girl that has no one to do my brake pads, and I'm unable to transport my car to a shop. Recently bought a car that needs a brake pad change and decided it'd be a good learning experience to just do them myself. I've seen them done and also decided that if I **** something up that's my own problem. I have a 2005 Ford Taurus. My e-mail is nyarseniccatnip@gmail.com (Haha. Ironic.)
  • Will a 1993 3.0 Ford Ranger engine fit and work with my 1995 Ford ranger that has a bad motor? My 1995 ford ranger 3.0 5 speed ran hot and cracked the heads and spun a bearing. Will a 3.0 out of a 1993 Ford Ranger fit and work? My concerns are the 1993 has a distributor and my 1995 does not. Are the water pumps and accessories the same?
  • Self Adjusting vs Non Self Adjusting Clutch? What kind of a clutch does a 1998 Ford ranger XLT 2wd 2.5 4 cylinder use from the factory? I have checked several forums and the answers are conflicting. Does anyone by chance know whether this type of truck needs a self adjusting or non self adjusting clutch?
  • Will high performance spark plugs have any benefit in a non performance car? To start I have a 2002 Ford Focus ZTS with 150000 miles on it. It needs new spark-plugs, and the only two types the store has that fit my car are Autolite Platinum and Bosch Platinum IR Fusion. My question is for my car, is there any advantage to spending the extra 14$ to get the higher end spark plugs or would it just be a waste of cash?
