460 ford cranks in on position?

I replaced the ignition and starter solenoid. It still cranks in the on position. Could the wires have melted in the harness?

Hi yes all sorts of problems come with modern control cars as it will have problems like this one ford i had the cluster on the steering wheel the pins where so small the connectors so large they did not make contact.

Yes, Look for the short.

You may have the wires reversed on the ignition switch.

  • My 2002 ford taurus cranks but don't start? It starts when i put starting fluid my fuel pump won't come on can i try anything before buying a new one I meant ford mustang
  • I have a 97 Ford Ranger, 4.0, in good shape, 102,000 miles and it doesn't start as well as I think it should. It cranks strong, and has new? Motorcraft plugs and fuel filter. I've cleaned the MAF sensor and throttle body and the truck runs fine and there's no misfire. Maybe I'm expecting too much, but I think the truck should start when I turn the key instead of having to crank 2-3 times. I've also installed a new IAC valve. Any suggestions on how to get the truck to start better?
  • My Ford Transit headlights turn on in off position and turn off in the on position? I'm a new driver, just passed my test. My van has some issue with the lights: namely, the lights turn off in the on position when the dash lights come on, and turn on when they are supposed to be off. This means that I'm driving at night without dash lights as I need to have the lights switched off in order for my headlights to be on. Might this be an electrical issue? Would anybody be able to give me advice and possibly know how much this costs to repair?
